Crazy Yarn Crawl

Crazy fun that is!
Well we only ended up going to 3 yarn shops and a beading store, and of course we stopped for lunch. It was a blast!
Here are some pictures of the events of the day:
Started out at Creative Fibers and found a few goodies.
Moved onto Webs, where I was completely overwhelmed, but managed to get over it so that I could hunt through for some more goodies. This is me standing near the entrance to their insanely large warehouse. Then while we were taking the following group shot, they saw that we were in a big group and gave us goody bags!! Woo Hoo! What's not to love! So in the next picture we are all searching through to see what we got.

Finally while waiting for our table to be ready for lunch a few of us ran over to Northampton Wools. This is a shot of the girls that made it over.

What a fun group, and a great way to spend the day! I now have 4 projects waiting to be made. They will all come after my cardi is finished....

Yarn Crawl!

So tomorrow, I am spending the majority of the day crawling around CT and up into Mass to go to several knitting shops with my SnB group.
We plan to go to several small shops, with the main purpose of going to Webs, and whatever else we come across along the way. Here is our eventful itinerary.

Wish me luck to be able to resist spending too much money, and the money I do spend I hope to put to good use! :)

I'm very excited :) Happy knitting!

It Has Arrived!

I got my Kindle :)
It is super sleek and stylish. Functional and wonderful. This is a photo of the oh so cute packaging it was wrapped up in. So, at Chan's request, here is what I think of it so far.

It is small and easy to bring with me wherever I go.
I love the sleep mode for when I have to quickly stop reading to run around with the littles.
I love the fact that you can set it to read out loud, sense lately we've been trying to spend more time outside playing and going for walks, I can set it in the stroller and plug in some headphones and listen while we walk.
I love that you can also change the pace of the reader to set it to a speed that is easy for you to follow along with, and you can also choose a female voice or a male voice.
I love that you can turn it off and the next time you turn it on it will go right back to where you stopped reading. It also does this if you choose to read another book for a while and then go back to another one, it will start you back where you left off.
I love the ability to shop for new books right from the Kindle store on the device and if you aren't sure you are going to like it you can get a free sample of the first chapter instantly downloaded and you can start reading. Then if you like what you read you can just click and buy the entire book which will also instantly download.
I love that it has a built in dictionary, so if you come across a word that you don't know you can scroll to it and it will give you the definition.
I love that it also has wikipedia on it so if you want to learn more about a specific topic you've read about you can search for it.
I love that the pages look just like the pages in a regular book, and there is no glare when you are reading outside.

The only thing that I don't like is that the first one came with a case included and this one doesn't so you have to spend an additional $30 for one. But I chose to just go find some wool sweaters from the Goodwill to cut up and sew together for cases. I will get multiple cases out of the 3 sweaters I purchased for $20. I will of course post pictures once they are done.

All in all I love my little Kindle. Oh and I have decided to give it a name. Krykit. Like a little bug cricket, but on the Kindle it calls it Krystle's Kindle so I took the Kry from my name and the Ki from kindle and added the t. Cute, I know.

Happy Reading :)

Those darn Dogs!

They eat everything!

This is a Frisbee (or it used to be) that S gave to Little Dan. It is foam and light-weight so the idea is that it is easier to learn how to throw a Frisbee by practicing with it. So much for that. The girls go to it and now its history!

But still they are cute... How can you get too upset with sweet little pups like these? :) In this picture Kati Lady and Z Dog were trying to snuggle up with me while I was trying to do laundry...sill dogs.
Hope everyone is having a happy week with their fur babies. Go check out other cute pups at Dogs on Thursday.

hip hip Hooray!

SO, I'm really excited because I recently pre-ordered the Kindle 2! It is the electronic book by Amazon.com. I have actually been looking into their first one and other e-books for about a year, and just now caved. It was supposed to be released today, but I got the email yesterday that it was out and being shipped so instead of getting it Thursday I think it's coming tomorrow!!! Woo baby! I'm stoked! :)

Happy Tuesday...go order yourself something nice that you can get excited about :D

Little boys and their toys..

Or more specifically their train tracks. I have started babysitting for this family on the weekend that has 2 boys. Now Little Dan loves train tracks, and it's not just him. It is all (or all that I have known) of them. The last time I watched these two little boys, they wanted me to build a train track. And so I did. And here it is:

And they played with it all day!

Happy Munchkin Monday :)

I can see clearly now..

The snow is gone!

Today it was really nice outside! odd, sense it was snowing yesterday. But hey, I'm not one to question a sunny day, we all went outside and ran like crazy people for the first time in 2009! (Well the first time both Little Ann, Little Dan, Kati, Zahra, and I all ran outside together.) It was a blast, and afterwards, all the kiddos crashed together on the couch while I cooked up some lunch1 :)

What a great day!

It's Wednesday...

...and I haven't posted all week. I've felt a bit overwhelmed, and had no time as both of the little are out of school. I thought I should at least post something. I'm hoping to upload pictures of the progress on my cardi... we'll see if I get to that. Not only are they out of school, but they are as "bored" and annoying as ever!! Ugh! Silly kids... (oh and of course all of my ideas are bad!)

Oh and to top it off, I don't think I've posted about it, but G is expecting, so we have one more baby on the way....to be here by July 3rd (if all goes well)....Anyhow, so to top off this already crazy week, G has been put on bed rest, so I get to have her lovely company this week :)

Oh the joys!

Hope everyone is having a great week, and maybe I'll even get more time to post later on this week, but for now I'm failing miserably at my goal of 20 posts per month this year...oh well!

I feel so honored!

My blog friend, the (Not So) cynical knitter, has granted me with Gracie's Golden Blogger award! Thank you, thank you!

Would you pay money for these?

Happy Belated Valentines day! I hope everyone is having a wonderful Valentine's day weekend. Those are all pictures of cards that I made... A few people saw some of them and thought that I should start selling them. So decided to make a bunch for Valentines day, and see what people thought of them. Then I thought I'd make a shop over on etsy and sell some of them (not the valentines, but ones for all kinds of other occasions).

So what do you think? Would you pay money for these?

Finished Objects! Woo-hoo!

So, 2 Christmas's ago, I started knitting some Fetching gloves for my dear friend Laura. Unfortunately, I only finished the Left one, and then stopped working on them for for more than a year. Last week I decided that I needed to pick them up again and get them finished for her! So I knit up the right glove. This is how they looked side by side when the Right one was complete:

Boy oh boy, has my gauge changed! I frogged glove #1, and re-knit it. Now they look nice :) I shipped them out to her earlier this week, and she should have them soon! I hear its been snowing again in Seattle this week too, so maybe she'll even try them out :)

Kati Love

Kati is my favorite! I know, I know, you aren't supposed to have a favorite, but after these guys brought Z home, I practically have to force the kids to give Kati attention too. And sense I have my opinions about how things are handled in this house, I have adopted Kati, so to speak. I give her tons of love, and play with her, and make sure she has the love that she needs. I love on Z too, but she doesn't need it as much as Kati does.

In return for this love, I think Kati has adopted me back! She follows me everywhere. When I'm cooking or doing something in the kitchen, she is sleeping near the cupboards. If I am typing something on the computer, she has crawled under the desk and is sleeping on my feet. Most recently if I am upstairs in my room, she curls up on the landing on the stairs and waits for me there.

Oh how I love my Kati! Happy DOT :) Check out more cute puppy lovin' at the Dogs on Thursday page.

Working outside

I've been working on my knitting as much as possible! I have been attending a weekly knitting group on Saturday mornings, and its really fun! I love being able to see what everyone else is working on, and get pointers and great tips from everyone.

This morning and the other morning while Little Dan and I were playing outside, enjoying some of the warmer days of winter, I brought my coffee and my knitting with us. It was very enjoyable to knit while he was playing and talking to him about how silly he is! Its great to make him laugh about everything!

I also love the peacefulness of our backyard. We have a great view through the wooded area, down to the pond which is now frozen! Little Dan and I talk about the birds that we can see and hear--he is very observant!

Ooh, and I know have been able to try on my cardigan, (it fits!) and now it has armholes too!!

Happy knitting :)

More Menu Efforts

I have been continuing to make a menu every week, and execute it with the hopes of getting the kids to try new foods. So far it has been working out pretty well.

Last week we had Tuna Casserole on Monday (both Littles ate a bite or two, and then picked out the pasta and peas to eat).

Tuesday we had Pork Chops, Mashed Potatoes, and Peas (it has been a hit both times we've had it, and I think it will become a regular on our menu!).

Wednesday we enjoyed some steamed Chicken, With Rice Pilaf, and Green Beans (Little Ann loved it all, Little Dan has decided to call Green beens Grass, and other than that, he ate and loved it all...this might always have to be on the menu!).

Thursday was Little Ann's birthday, so they enjoyed dinner out at her favorite restaurant, and Friday, we had pizza and brownies with the neighbors to celebrate her birthday again! All in all a pretty good week. Hopefully this week's menu will go over well with the Littles too.

It is finally gettting a little bit warmer!

Little Dan and I decided it would be fun to open up the sand table that hasn't been used sense the Fall. It was great fun, and nice to be able to get some fresh air! Although, we did have to run inside again to get a little bit more bundled up, after all, it is still Winter time!

Now with the hat and gloves were were able to play outside with the sand table and running around with the pups for about an hour and a half! Hopefully it will stay warm, or get consistently warmer, that'd be awfully nice too :)

Happy Munchkin Monday! Hopefully its warm enough were you are to go out and get some fresh air too :)

Little Ann had a Birthday!

And she turned 8! Oh what a wonderful age :) She is becoming such a beautiful young lady, so smart (and thinks she's very wise and all knowing too).

Here is the bday card I mad for her:

Oh, The places we knit!

About a week ago, I was having my hair done, and while I was processing, you wouldn't believe what I was doing!!

Okay, so the title gave it away! I was knitting.

What else would I be doing with my extra 30 minutes of time?! Anyhow, I'm on ball #6 out of 12, so thats almost half way. I'll post some new pictures of my progress soon! It sure is coming along though :)

Knitting is exciting! :D

Superbowl Sunday!

Alright, so I'm not really going to a superbowl party, just to the local bar that I go to for ladies night with my CT bff, Sami. I also could care less who wins at this point, all of the teams I like have been out for a long time! I'm planning on rooting for the steelers though because there is another regular at the local bar who is a die hard steelers fan, and goes crazy when the games are on...I don't really feel like getting my arse kicked so I figure I'll just enjoy the game, and enjoy the commercials, and root for the Steelers. (Maybe I'll just bring my knitting and knit at the bar while watching the game... that'd keep me from over-eating...hmmmmmm.)

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend thus far, and has a great day today!

P.S. I wish I was in sunny Florida where they are playing at instead of icy freezing cold Connecticut! Oh well :/

Here are some pictures that I took last summer in Block Island... Here's to dreaming of summertime :)
