Sailing, Sailing

Right before I left for the Hamptons, Patrick and I decided to spend the entire day, just relaxing and hanging out.

We had tickets for a sailboat cruise out of New Haven and we scheduled to be on the brunch cruise that day. It was a gorgeous day to set sail, the sun was shining, and the breeze was perfect. The tickets said that it was a 2 hour cruise, but we were all on the boat for about 2 hours and 45 minutes, and not a single person was upset about the added time. It was amazing to be on a large sailboat (it was 100' in length including the beams that extend to support the sails). It was beautiful with all four of the sails up and just enjoying the brunch and the company of the other people on the boat.

I even got some knitting done!

Someday I will learn how to sail and save for a tiny boat (that's all I'll be able to afford) but it really only needs to hold 2 people. I find being out on the water so relaxing and peaceful. I love it!

After our sail that day, we went to the beach and relaxed for a while, and then made our way back to my place so I could pack. We ordered take-out from a local Mexican place (one of my favorite types of cuisine), and streamed some movies on netflix.

All in all it was the perfect low key day spent with Patrick. It was great to get to spend the whole day together in our busy schedules just hanging out before I left. I am leaving Sag Harbor tomorrow and hopping on another boat (the ferry) to cross the sound and have some downtime for the weekend! I cannot wait! It is much needed. It is so beautiful here, and I do enjoy the opportunity to be here in this gorgeous place. But there is nothing like an entire day off or sleeping in your own bed!

Anyone have any fabulous plans for the weekend?

Picture this:

Right now, I am reclining on the sofa, next to my pooch who is also quite relaxed on the sofa, the blinds are open, and although we've had mounds of snow, beautiful springlike weather has been warming things up nicely and there are bright rays of sun streaming in and casting a nice warmth over Charlie and I.

This is what I call a relaxing Sunday! I have the entire day off (which I feel a little guilty about, but I promise to push those feelings away, and enjoy it.) I have had a very accomplished weekend up to this point. I am almost to cast off point on my Coquette lace top, and I have put it down to finish DW's cardi. I have 35 more inches of sleeve work to go in total, and then just weaving in ends, and sewing on buttons... it is getting there and I am excited to complete it, as it has been almost a year. So my plans today are to catch up on some of my favorite shows that I have missed the last couple of weeks, knit, and snuggle with Charlie. It's a pretty great plan if I do say so myself! And hopefully I will have not just one, but two FO reports!

Happy Relaxing Sunday :)

Take a little Trip

Last weekend(or two weekends ago now) I had a three day weekend along with the majority of America. And along with 12% of America I took a road trip! I went to Delaware to my friend's family's beach house! It was so fun, quiet and relaxing!

Friday I drove down after work.. I got off work with an effort to make it there at a decent hour. Well the navi was set to allow ferry rides, which would have been totally fine, I love ferry rides! However, the ferries had closed by the time I reached them (only by half an hour too!!) And The ferry was going to take me from Cape May NJ across into Delaware, and then I would have only had about half an hour left of driving before I arrived. But since said ferry rides were close I had to drive all the way around the cursed Cape May!!! And yes I cried, and screamed and cursed to the heavens! I was pissed! I finally got back on course, re-fueled the vehicle, and proceeded to arrive at the Beach house at 1am Saturday morning! Once there I took a hot shower in one of the most amazing showers I have ever been in, and then I crashed on the incredibly comfy mattress, and slept until 10:30am!

Saturday was a lot better than Friday (obviously bc I didn't have to drive anywhere that the bitch navi could get me lost). So this gorgeous house! 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (amazing showers-by the time I left, I had sampled them all!) 3 living room/sitting room areas, dining room and kitchen and it was all so adorably decorated! I started off the day with coffee and knitting while my friend slept until 2! The rest of the day was spent pretty much just hanging out watching movies, doing nothing (very relaxing to do nothing). For dinner I grilled some stuffed flank steaks (yum-o!) and tossed some lettuce into a bowl. It was a delicious meal. By 10:30pm I was exhausted again and went to bed by 11:30.

Sunday I had the same slow start.. Coffee and knitting. Then we took a walk, and then went to the grocery store, and doodled around town... apparently we were in Maryland for a moment so I could check that off my list as well. Then we went back and the friend cooked me shrimp alfredo for dinner again with salad.. then we watched more tv and movies and just relaxed until I was exhausted and went to bed.

Monday I was planning on leaving around 3 so I made brunch, and then packed and hung out for a while before heading out. All in all it was a good weekend.. very relaxing and just the break I needed!

Now let me tell you about the showers! There were two that were just outright amazing! One was about 6'x3' and on each of the 3' walls had a large shower head that was positioned directly above your head with all sorts of different settings that caused me to waste too much water while testing them all! The other one was an odd shaped shower, but still very fantastic! It was a trapezoid with the shower head in the center of the longest wall (which was also probably 6' and then the two short sides were 3' and then you can do the math for the forth wall... but according to the Pythagorean Theorem should also be about 3') and then there were two little sprayer nozzles below the main shower head going down vertically in the wall so you could have a light misty rain like shower, or a downpour! It was also very adjustable, and so fantastic! (The photo here is of one of the several built in water features in the development.)

And here is a lovely picture of the George Washington Bridge all lit up as I was driving across it on my way back home! I found the lighting very pretty :)
Sorry it has taken me soo long to update! But that was my exquisite weekend at the beach house! :)

One Wonderful Weekend

I haven't had internet access for most of last week, so I was unable to update! We left on Wednesday to go to Southington, CT, which is about an hour north of Southport. Friday was Gwen's little sister's wedding, and little Dan was the ring-bearer!!! So we had to be up on Wed. for the rehearsals. Thursday, I got quite a bit done on my knitting while sitting by the pool with the Little's, and there cousins. We also went shopping on Thursday with the kids...note to self: don't take the kids into a toy store without telling them exactly how much they have to spend before hand...or tantrums will follow!! Dinner that night was quite eventful, I met half of Gwen's family (which is very large!) and on Friday at the wedding I met the rest of them. I had to get little Dan into his suit before the ceremony (he looked soo adorable, everything was way big on him!) The wedding was a beautiful ceremony...and then the reception was a blast! We danced alot! Saturday morning was a nephew's birthday so we all went out to breakfast to celebrate that event...then as we were leaving all of Gwen's family was giving me hugs and welcoming me to the family! It was really sweet!

When I got back home on Saturday afternoon from enjoying all of the festivities, I went to the hardware store to get paint samples. The colors I narrowed it down to are called dill (which will be on 3 walls), Bourbon (which is the more peanutty color), and Friar's Brown (which is the dark contrasting brown). So you all will have to help give me your opinions on which brown should cover the 4th wall! I loved the idea of the entire room being brown, but all of the browns that I like are way to dark, and I think if they were covering the entire room, it would feel small...so green and brown it is!

I also paid a visit to the local craft store, and spent way to much money on some card-making and scrap booking supplies! (Why is it that I have all of the expensive hobbies?!) But I did turn out some lovely cards, here is a picture of one of them and then some envelope detail that I did as well.

Sunday, I had a quiet afternoon. Went and got some coffee, and made my way to my new favorite spot! One of the more quiet beaches here...and my coffee and my book planted ourselves for hours!

Oh and check this out!!
