Nature's Beauties

The Hamptons are definitely a place that I would have on that list. It is gorgeous here. We are nestled in a residential area in East Hampton, near Amagansett. We can see the Bay from the house, and it is just a two minute walk (at kid speed) to the beach. Simply wonderful.

So far work-wise, things have been good. Extremely better than past Nannying work trips I have been on. I have my own room.. enough said.

We have explored a little bit of the area. Took the kids putt putt golfing the other day, and I won a free game for the next time. We have spent a lot of time adventuring by foot, at the beach. The weather has overall been great. Although as I'm sitting here typing this, it is overcast, a little chilly, and there is actually enough fog in the air that our view of the water has turned into a view of smokey-white abyss this morning. All in all a great time is being had.

I have been knitting and jogging daily to keep myself sane. The knitting is my zen, and the jogging is just a wonderful breath of fresh air. I have only missed one day since arriving, and that was simply because I was the adult on duty and couldn't leave the kids here to go out.

My spirits are great, and we are almost finished with week one. Hopefully things keep up in the direction that they are going! More to come soon!

1,000 Rubber Duckies

Last weekend, I had Roo for a few hours on Saturday, and the town was having it's annual Ducky Derby. A local school for children with disabilities hold the event at the River, and people can come, buy tickets, at enjoy the festivities. So we bought our ticket (every duck has a number on it's tail feathers), and we watched them drop 1,000 rubber ducks into the water. They have to try to be the first to make it to the end, and if your duck is first second or third, you get to take home a trophy, if not, you trade in your ticket for a souvenir rubber ducky to take home.

I had never been before, but it was very cool to see so many yellow ducks and their reflections going along with the currents. At about the halfway point there was a family of geese out for a swim, and they were very curious about all the rubber duckies too. While the mommy goose led the babies safely onto shore, the daddy goose hissed and tried to scare the inanimate objects away. Very cute (unless you were the papa goose)!

Oh, yea... Roo had a good time too! :)

More Photography

I usually keep my camera with me at all times, and sense my realization of how much I really love taking pictures, and my long time love for the environment, I have decided to try and capture as much of the environmental bliss that I can find.

This weeks blissful imagery comes with a beautiful blanket of snow :)
[We won't be using our patio furniture anytime soon!]

[Our shrubbery has been dwarfed by the snow.]

[The snowy series of trees that lines our driveway.]

[My favorite tree in our yard in the spring time, but I'm really loving it in the winter too]

Enjoy your snow from a nice warm seat in your house :)

Artsy Fartsy

Something that I have been noticing about myself, is that I really love being able to capture images of all kinds of things. Whether it's something beautiful found in nature, or just the vibrant colors of food. I really love photography. Although I'm not sure the simple point and shoot of the camera that I use is considered photography... I do enjoy capturing whatever it is that is flirting with my imagination, and asking me to frame it.

At any rate! (little joke for Mr. Jay & Mom) here are some images that mother nature provided me with:

These little spiky seed ball things (above) fell off of this naked winterized tree (below) I find them simply lovely and intriguing.

And this is the thick sheet of ice on the surface of the Charles River in Boston, MA. You can see the order in which the ice froze, and how the water was flowing by the swirls, and curves in the ice. Very cool! (Freezing cold, cool...lol)

There ya go... a few of natures gifts :)
